Prom 2021
Centerburg will host prom on April 24 from 8 to 11 PM at the Beverly Mansion in Sparta. The Governor's office stated that they would release guidance for prom and graduation on March 17. That hasn't happened. Due to the need for students to make plans and to purchase or rent attire, we are moving forward using the state guidance for indoor venues. If there are other allowances given later, we will incorporate them into our plans.
The state limits any venue to a maximum of 25% of their occupancy permit. This means we can have a maximum of 150 occupants. We think that will accommodate all senior and junior students and their dates. Centerburg students can bring non-Centerburg dates following the normal procedures.
Following state mandates, masks must be worn whenever students are standing or dancing. They also must be worn sitting unless eating or drinking refreshments. Masks can be removed for pictures but must be put back on immediately after the pictures are completed. State mandates require dance groups of no larger than 10 people with 6-foot distancing between groups.
Please be respectful of these requirements. If there are violations, it is the venue operator that is fined or closed down. We do not want Centerburg to be responsible for the loss of someone's livelihood. We will remind students about the limitations and requirements a few times, but if a person has to be continually reminded, he or she will be required to leave.
Please help us to follow these guidelines. This can still be a fun evening even with these restrictions.
Due to the increased spectator capacity allowances by ODH and OHSAA, and all spring sports being outdoors, and with our traditional spectator attendance numbers at our home spring sport contests, we do not deem it necessary to issue formal limitations on the number of spectators at our athletic events. However, all in attendance are required to wear masks at all times, and social distance from those in other family groups. Those attending baseball and softball games are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs in order to be able to spread out from others. If other venues are requiring further restrictions we will inform parents as soon as possible. More information will be released at a later date regarding spectator attendance at the home track meet we are hosting in May, and the OHSAA Spring Sports Postseason. Thank you for your continued support of our student-athletes and Centerburg Athletics.
Congratulations to all our February Student of the Month!
